Cakes and Ale
If you look for me
I will be gone
my legs restless
needing to stretch
in new directions
where I will live a soft,
simpler existence.
I have moved
deeper in the wood
in a cottage
freshly whitewashed
with yard tidy
where I will bake pies,
and tend a garden.
The sun will find me
in quiet solitude
walking the forest
with grandchildren
hand in hand
where I will teach them
to listen for poetry.

so peaceful.
“…to listen for poetry…” So true. All we need is to be still and listen, if only for a moment. I love this.
Thanks dratgosy, I kinda like it too.
Renee, thanks for your comment, it was written in a peaceful state.
Does this pay well enough to finish raising three kids. If so, where can I submit my resume? Ha ha….I visit that wood often in hopes of relocating. ” But only in their dreams can men be truly free, twas always thus, and always thus will be.” ~ Keating

Of the poems I have found on WordPress this is perhaps my favorite. If I could shape my future it would be somewhat like this, simple and calm, at peace with the world and with nature. A family, a legacy that knows how to walk with the wind and listen to the babbling of the brook. All of that and more is expressed so beautifully here.
From Stray Dogs house. I liked it tooo!!!
WOW. Dratgosy you flatter me. I am glad that you liked it, and thank you Syndal for enlightening me. I appreciate the feedback!
